Built for heavy.
One engineer. One room. Two decades of muscle memory. Metallfabriken is built around a single principle: get the energy in the room onto the record without losing any of it.
I record music the same way I play it — loud, deliberate, and with intent.
Hi, I'm Marcus Edvardsson. Metallfabriken Studios is my room in Östersund, in the highlands of northern Sweden. Over the past two decades I've tracked and produced everything from Metal Blade releases to self-released debuts — the through-line is heavy music that moves people.
I also front the band Souldrainer, which means I sit on both sides of the glass. That perspective shapes how I work: I know what it takes to play a part 47 times for one keeper, and I respect what every minute of studio time costs an independent band.
Whether you're chasing a debut EP or a fifth full-length, the room is dialed in to serve the song first and the genre second.
Recording
Full-band tracking with the room's signature drum sound, plus iso for amps and vocal takes. Engineered to keep the band performing, not babysitting takes.
Production
Arrangement, performance coaching, tone shaping. The studio you bring half-finished demos to and leave with a record.
Mix & Master
Hybrid analog/ITB mixing and in-house mastering, tuned for streaming, vinyl and CD. Files in, finished record out.
